There seems to be a lot of paranoia about running your car without the timing gear covers. Yes, it would suck IF something got caught in the belt, but there is really no chance of that happening as long as you don't run the car without the cover on the bottom of the car that covers were your lower radiator hose is. That is the only way a bag or something could get inside the engine bay. Also, you only need to remove the top two gear covers. Leave the bottom one, the one that covers the main gear, in place. Of course the only reason to run without the covers in the first place would be because you have adjustable cam gears. Otherwise just keep them on.
